SJ 5564 2075 (West side)

9/127 Brick kiln approx.
- 460 metres to south-
west of Church
of Saint Mary the
Virgin

- II

Brick kiln. Probably mid-C19. Red brick (English bond); domed brick
roof with oculus. Circular plan. 9 bays divided by buttresses. Stepped
segmental-arched recesses in each bay, each with a smaller small segmental-
arched opening. Depressed-arched entrance to north-west. This is an
interesting and complete example of a small brick kiln associated with
a small brickworks. The remains of the diggings lie to south of
the kiln.
