- to front

GV II

House. Dated 1800 with remodelled late C17 or C18 wing at rear. Red
brick with slate roof. Rear wing with painted brick nogging and high
brick plinth. Framing of rear Wing: light square panels (3 and 4 from
sole plate to wall plate) with long straight tension braces. L-plan.
2 storeys and gable-lit attic with wing of one storey and attic. Dentil
brick eaves cornice and parapeted gable ends with moulded stone kneelers
and stone coping. External brick end stacks. 3 bays; glazing bar sashes
with painted stone cills and painted stone lintels with raised fluted
keystones. 3 stone steps with wrought-iron railings up to central door
with 6 raised and fielded panels, 3-part rectangular overlight, and
bracketed flat hood. Datestone above: A C
Rear wing with 2 small gabled eaves 1800
dormers and central brick ridge stack.
Collar and tie-beam truss in gable end with queen struts and V-struts.
Railings adjoining to front: L-plan. Wrought-iron spearhead railings
on dressed grey sandstone plinth; circular-section cast-iron standards
with urn finials and curved stanchions; central wrought-iron gate with
curved braces. Interior of house not inspected.
