II

Milestone. Late C18 with early C19 alterations. Red sandstone with cast-
iron plates. Triangular section on square base. Attached segmental-headed
cast-iron plates with superscribed serif lettering: "TO/CHESTER/29/MILES"
(left-hand side) and "TO/NEWPORT/11 MILES" (right-hand side). Rectangular
plate to base superscribed: "TERNHILL". The cast plates are probably early C19
additions as earlier inscriptions are just visible in the stone behind them.
Tern Hill House Farmhouse is not included on this list (see Moreton Say C.P.).
