Shown on O.S. map as Fox Inn.
House, latterly inn. Late C18 with early C19 additions. Red brick on dressed
red sandstone plinth. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys and gable-lit attic over
basement. Plat band (top course projecting), toothed-brick eaves cornice and
parapeted gable ends with rounded stone copings. Integral brick end stacks.
3 bays; first-floor wooden cross windows with painted segmental heads, central
central window obscured by former inn name-board; ground-floor glazing bar
sashes with exposed boxes, painted segmental heads and painted stone cills.
Central 6-panelled door with moulded architrave and bracketed flat hood;
approached by 3 stone steps with plain wrought-iron handrails. Probably early
C19 two-storey addition to right with integral brick end stack, first-floor
segmental-headed 2-light wooden casement and ground-floor segmental-headed
glazing bar sash. Interior not inspected. The house was formerly the Fox Inn.
