13/48 No. 18 (Hesketh House)
House. Mid-C18 with some early to mid-C19 alterations. Red brick
with plain tile roof. 3 storeys over basement. Painted plinth,dentil
brick eaves cornice, brick ridge stack off-centre to left and integral
brick end stack to right. 3 bays; glazing bar sashes with exposed
boxes, painted stone cills and gauged-brick heads. Door to right with
6 raised and fielded panels, fanlight with intersecting Gothick tracery
and early to mid-C19 wooden doorcase with panelled reveals and soffit.
Panelled spandrels,moulded architrave and fluted pilaster strips support-
ing frieze with large shaped brackets and projecting flat cornice.
2 stone steps up to door and cast-iron bootscraper to left. Round-
arched passageway doorway to left with boarded door, 2 stone steps up.
Interior: early C19 staircase with closed string and stick balusters.
Probably C18 moulded cornice in entrance hall. Mid-C19 fireplaces.
C18 six-panelled doors with L-hinges and moulded architraves.
