13/63 No. 9 and part of No.

House, latterly shop, and now partly dentist's surgery. Mid-C17, remod-
elled in the mid-C19. Red brick with timber framed core. Plain tile
roof. L-plan. 2 bays with wing at rear. One storey and attic with
2-storey wing. South east front: plinth to right- and dentil brick
eaves cornice. Pair of gabled semi dormers with 3-light wooden casements.
C17 integral brick end stack to right consisting of base with weathering
and chamfered offset to truncated shaft with projecting ribs. 2-windows;
segmental-headed 3-light wooden casement to right and early C19 former
shop window to left with surround consisting of reeded pilaster strips,
frieze and moulded cornice. Central segmental-headed 4-panelled door
with gabled porch. Left-hand gable end: segmental-headed 3-light
wooden attic casement. Former early C19 ground-floor shop-front with
window to left and half-glazed panelled door to right, both with surrounds
consisting of reeded pilaster strips and with continuous frieze and
cornice. Part of adjoining building to left with first-floor 3-light
wooden casement, ground-floor 3-light wooden casement to right and segmental
headed 4-panelled door to left (lower panels flush, upper glazed).
This has been rebuilt at a later date (see straight joint). Interior:
pairs of chamfered spine beams. Rear wing with chamfered spine beam
and timber framed end wall (square panels). The principal elevation
faces onto Church Street. The rear wing, formerly part of No.9, is
now part of No.7.
