Tern Hill House Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Late C18, refenestrated and heightened in the early C19.
Red brick with hipped slate roof. 3 storeys. Plat band between ground
and first floors and dentil brick eaves cornice. Pair of brick ridge
stacks, off-centre to left and right. 3 bays; glazing bar sashes with
painted stone cills and slightly segmental heads. Mid-C19 half-glazed
door with doorcase consisting of attached unfluted Greek Doric columns
supporting entablature. 2-bay return fronts. Left-hand return front
with inserted 6-panelled door to left. One-storey wing to rear with
plat band and brick ridge stack. Before the early C19 alterations the
house was of 2 storeys with a 5-bay front (see blocked segmental-headed
windows and change in brickwork to top storey).
