Description

LOPPINGTON C.P. LOPPINGTON
SJ 4629-4729
15/43 Churchyard wall
- to north and west
of Church of St.
Michael
GV II
Churchyard wall. Probably late C18 or C19 but reusing earlier material.
Coursed and dressed sandstone rubble with triangular coping. Encloses
churchyard on north and west, boundary on east being former by wall
to Church Farm (q.v.). Stone stile at north-east corner. The churchyard
has been extended to south-east but the original roughly circular shape,
suggestive of an early date, has been preserved by a marked fall in
ground level on that side. Included for group value.
