Lower Farmhouse is shown on O.S. map as Lower Frankton Farmhouse.
Barn. Circa 1700 with later additions and alterations. Weatherboarded
timber frame on red sandstone block plinth; asbestos sheet roof. 2
doorways to left, one to left of centre and wide threshing entrance,
formerly with opposing double doors (surviving to rear) to right of centre;
5 eaves hatches, including pair above threshing entrance. Interior.
Framing visible: tall vertical posts with long straight tension braces.
Bay partitions are weatherboarded on low red brick walls with mixture
of long straight and curved braces. Single-purlin roof in 6 unequal
bays with queen-post trusses, that to right gable end with collar and
V-struts from collar. Left bay has loft over C19 cowstalls. Slate
floor in threshing bay. Included for group value.
