3/112 Church Farmhouse
Farmhouse. Mid-C18 with later additions and alterations. Plum-coloured
brick and timber framed with purple brick infill, sandstone rubble plinth,
high to right gable end. Slate roofs with coped verges on carved stone
kneelers. L-plan to front with another range at right-angles to rear on
right of main range. One storey and attic with continuous first-floor
band to front plus band to apex of projecting 2-storey gabled cross-wing.
This has C20 casement with C18 segmental head on each floor; 3-light
C20 casement to right of main range has C18 head and C20 gabled dormer
breaking eaves directly above. Late C20 lean-to brick porch with
contemporary panelled door in angle between ranges. External end stacks
to left and right. Rear range has timber frame (rectangular panels) to
right (farmyard) side and external end stack. Interior. Cross-wing has
chamfered cross beam and joists on ground floor with similar beam and
joists to right ground-floor room. Several internal walls said to be
timber framed but plastered over at time of resurvey (February 1987).
Several C18 panelled doors including to entrance doorway behind porch.
C18 staircase with turned balusters and wide boarded oak floor boards on
first floor. Roof of main range in 2 bays with tie beam visible to
centre and part of queen-strut truss visible behind plaster to rear range.
Cellar beneath main range to right.
