Vills, c1840. Roughcast, hipped Welsh slated roof with wide soffites, brick
chimney stack on left-hand side. 2-storeys of 3-bays. Central fine projecting
porch set on 5 steps, with fluted Ionic columns and attached columns supporting
full entablature and flat roof: 6-panel door, the top 2 panels having been
removed to make one glazed panel; 16-pane sash windows to both levels, excluding
the right-hand ground floor window, currently 2-light casement window. Inside,
the right-hand room has an ornamental plaster ceiling and incised plaster panels
to the walls (1 panel damaged); the rear left-hand bedroom also has some fine
plasterwork. One or two C19 early fireplaces; most original doors and doorcases
survive, as do the fairly plain main and servants' staircases. (Property
undergoing restoration January 1983). High stone wall to front boundary capped
by C19 railings, with 2 pairs of simple gate piers with moulded caps - the gates
missing. The home of Earle Vincent, brewer and developer, active late C19.
