Milestone on boundary wall of Horseshoe Farmhouse

Milestone. Late C18. Bath stone pillar with cast iron plaque plugged on. Stone about 350 metres wide and 250 mm thick, standing about 950 mm high, the top roughly rounded: plaque 320 mm x 260 mm high, with shouldered semi-circular top of 280 mm diameter: early 'incised' lettering reads: "BRUTON" in curved head, "3 MILES" in plaque proper.
Well preserved example; the Bruton Trust founded 1756, became responsible for this Bruton to Warminster Road in 1793.
