House. Mid C19. Local stone rubble; plain clay tile roofs between coped gables; brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. "L"-plan: 2 storeys, 3-bay South elevation. Plinthed, small pane 3 and 2-light casement windows in segmental
arched openings, with gables over outer first floor windows; projecting brick and stone porch with pointed segmental arch and blind trefoil cusped plaque in gable. East elevation similar, of 4 bays: alternate large and small gables to
upper windows, bay 3 projecting slightly with plain segmental arch to recessed doorway. Remarkably unsophisticated for such a large house; it may represent conversion of a former hospital for the mentally subnormal which local tradition
says existed in Border.
