8/21 Sundial Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Dated 1765. Local stone cut and squared; clay double Roman tiles between coped gables; brick end chimney
stacks. 'L' plan, 2 storeys; 3 bays, including a C20 1-bay extension to South West corner. Steel casement windows
apparently in original openings: ground floor windows have deep stone lintols with segmental arched recesses formed
into them, above are timber lintol; plain boarded door between bays 2 and 3 under moulded flat stone hood on shaped
brackets; above this a bold projecting plaque with sundial, incised "Robert Penny 1765". Modern extension copies style
and window motif. Interior not seen.
