6/98 Toomer Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Part C18, part C19, with earlier fragments. Local stone: North, C18 half coursed rubble, South C19 half, cut
and squared, ashlar dressings; Welsh slate roof between coped gables; brick and cast stone chimney stacks. 'U'-plan; 2
storeys 3 bays North elevation, of which outer bays are gabled, with linking parpet. 2-light leaded casements with iron
opening lights above to outer bays and below a steel and a small-pane casement, all in plain openings with stone
lintols; central chamfered pointed segmental doorway with pair boarded and studded doors; above a worn apparently Tudor
cartouche of arms, under the top of a C15 cusped window light. South elevation 3 bays with outer projecting wings,
string course between floors; 2-light casements with arched tracery glazing bars; central pair glazed doors set under
deep lintol with 4-centre arch and incised carvings; on West side of C19 portion 2 oeil-de-boeuf windows, blocked and
presumably reused; leaded casements to C18 portion. Interior not seen.
