(Marked as Gibbet Cottages on OS map). Detached cottage, formerly two. C18 Local stone rubble, rendered on front
elevation; thatched roof between coped gables; brick end chimney stacks. Two storeys; 4 bays, with single- storey
extension against west gable. Two and 3-light leaded casement windows except to upper bay 2, which is a C18 2-light
casement with leading and iron-framed opening light; projecting open porch in stone with thatched roof to bay 2: bow
window to west extension: bay 4 may also be an addition. Interior not seen. Probably built by John Hooper between 1758
and 1769: was a dame-school c1850-1880. (M. Whitfield, In Praise of Bratton St. Maur, 1974).
