Detached house. C15, with modifications. Local stone rubble, some cob, all rendered and colourwashed half-hipped
thatched roof; brick chimney stacks. Single-storey with attic, 4 bays, Casement windows, mostly with horizontal bars,
3-light below. except bay 4 which is 2-light; above, 2-light windows bays 1, 3 and 4, the first under the eaves and the
others set into thatched dormers, and to bay 2 an earlier pattern 4-light casement also set into thatch; C20 porch with
C20 doorway between bays 2/3. Further casement windows in north gable; lean-to at rear. Interior has deep-chamfered
crossbeam to lower ceilings, one with long step and runouts, with sockets and mortices for wattle and doorframes; 2
old simple fireplaces, both adapted: roof frame of 4 pairs of jointed crucks with trenched purlins, and one
wattle-and-daub partition on first floor. Originally one house, subdivided later into 2 or 3 houses and now one
property again. The foundations of a previous farmhouse to this site said to survive to west. The settlement recorded
by 1170. (VCH Somerset, Vol IV, 1978, p128).
