Group of four monuments in
churchyard, about 4 metres
south-east of vestry, Church of
Four chest tombs: (a) P--ling monument about 2 metres east-south-east of vestry. Chest tomb. C18. Ham stone, marble
panels. Base buried; plain panels each face with 3-panel pilasters to flanks; moulded coving to hipped top with rounded
leading edges. Commemorates Revd Benedict P--ling, died 1758 (according to the list of incumbents, not a vicar of this
parish). (b) Unidentified monument about 3 metres south-east of vestry. Chest tomb. Early C17, Ham stone. Base buried;
plain sides and flanks: chamfered coving to heavy flat top. No inscriptions discernible. (c) Unidentified monument
about 4 metres south-east of vestry. Chest tomb. Early C17. Ham stone. Base buried; plain sides and flanks; chamfered
coving to heavy flat top. No inscription readable - that to west end not deciphered. (d) Browse monument about 4 metres
south-south east of vestry. Chest tomb. Late C17. Ham stone. Chamfered base; plain sides and flanks cyma-recta coving
to heavv flat top. Commemorates Thomas Browse, Doctor of Physick, died 1694.
