4/116 Leigh Road Railway Bridge

Road bridge over railway. Circa 1860. Rusticated and squared local lias stone, some boasted, HaM stone copings: cast
iron girders carrying brick vaults, themselves slightly arched. Bridge has square piers at ends and at bank seats;with
a boasted band course at road level. the parapets flat with simple Ham stone copings; the 4 cast-iron beams have
segmental bottom flanges, linked by 3 tie-rods additionally restraining the brick vaults carrying the road. (According
to Industrial Archaelogical Society this is one of only two of this type remaining in the county).
