7/75 The 'smaller Diana' statue on
lawn, about 40 metres west of
Statue on base. Probably between 1766 and 1817. Ham stone base, Portland stone statue, possibly by the same hand as the
larger Diana statue 80 metres west of the house (qv). Simple base about 600mm square and 900mm high, having chamfered
plinth and top: statue of Diana about 1 metre high, facing south, with a bow held in her left hand, and a helmet at her
feet. The park of Hinton House (qv) was greatly extended between 1766 and the late 1790s, and landscaping continued
until at least 1817. This statue probably not in its original position. (VCH Somerset, Vol IV, 1978, p 46).
