9/145 The Firs


Detached house. C19, extended in C20. Possibly by Sir George Gilbert Scott, architect of nearby Moorlands (qv). Ham
stone cut and squared, ashlar dressings; Welsh slate roof between stepped coped gables; brick end chimney stacks. Two
storeys, 3+1 bay south-west elevation, at right angles to road. Hollow-chamfer mullioned windows in chamfered recesses
with labels, 2-light; simpler chamfered 2-light window without label first floor bay 2. To lower bay 2 a boarded door
with 3-pane rectangular fanlight over, set under small timber hood. East gable extended to match, by one bay, in C20.
