8/50 The Lodge
(Previously Welsey Cottage)

Cottage. Late C18. Local stone, squared and comb dressed in courses;
triple roll clay tiles between coped gables, replacing thatch; brick end
chimney stacks. 2-storeys, 4-bays. 6-reeded panel entrance door, part
glazed, between bays 2 and 3, with heavy mid C20 stone porch with flat
roof. No window to bay 2 ground floor, small casement to bay 3,
otherwise 18-pane horizontal sliding sash windows with voussoired flat
arches below and exposed concrete lintols above. West side rebuilt in
brick: extension to rear. Dominates the end of Church Street in
picturesque fashion.
