5/26 Milestone at NGR ST 5496 2852

Milestone. Probably early C19. Ham stone and cast iron. Stone slab about
500mm wide and 150mm thick standing about 750mm above ground; cast iron
plaque about 350mm wide x l00mm deep with added semi-circles above and
below: reads "11/Shepton Mallet/Ilchester 4" in raised Roman capitals.
This road was maintained by the Ilchester Trust from 1753.
