9/199 Milestone set into front boundary
wall of Hillhead Cottage

Milestone. Early C19. Ham stone pillar with cast iron plaque, now enbedded in lias stone rubble wall. Pillar about one
metre high and 400mm wide; plaque about 400mm x 125mm deep, with semi-circular projections top and bottom (small
portion of right hand side missing), reading "5/Langport/Castle Cary/10". This road was maintained by the Langport,
Somerton and Castle Cary Trust from 1753.
