Detached cottage, C16 and later. Local lias stone roughly squared and coursed; thatched roof with plain gables to main
section, clay tiles to remainder; brick chimney stack. Long-house plan: single storey throughout; 8 bays, of which bays
7 and 8 are thatched, but the other bays not C20 as they seem. Bays 1 and 2 have 2-light small-pane casement; bay 3 a
boarded door; bays 4, 5 and 6 aluminium casements, with small dormer above bay 5; bay 7 has aluminium window and above
a horizontal bar casement in swept dormer; wide boarded door in heavy frame under timber lintol, and bay 8 has a
3-light, formerly 6-light chamfer moulded timber frame window. Extension to east gable with corrugated iron roof,
formerly a stable: house formerly ran further eastwards. Inside, room behind bay 7 has a 6-panelled framed ceiling,
with fireplace and oven, all later insertions; room behind bay 5 has late stud partition, and behind bay 4 room open to
underside of roof, with lapped plank partition and indication of inserted floor; some jointed cruck trusses. Rare
survival in this area of a readily - identifiable long house. (VAG Report, SRO Unpublished, 1975).
