Water pump. Dated 1878. Cast iron. Set on concrete plinth with grating, pump has fluted column on moulded base and with
collar rings; cylindrical headpiece has ornamental curved spout, a decorative pointed finial, and an 'S'-shaped handle
with pear-shaped end knob, and bears a large metal plaque reading "Artesian tube well/sunk by/Le Grand and
Sutcliffe/Burnhill Row London/1878." One of a number of pumps formerly in this street, probably the best survivor (note
on water supplies: VCH, Vol III, 1974).
