(The Angel on O.S. Map) Inn. C18, modified. Brick, Flemish bond, facade colourwashed; Welsh slate roof with stepped
coped gable to east, plain gable to west; brick chimney stacks. Three storeys, 3 bays. Above, sash windows in plain
openings with gauged brick flat arches, 12-pane to first floor and 9-pane to second; to ground floor wide plain semi-
circular through archway to bay 1, fitted with boarded doors; C19 shopfront to bays 2 and 3 with C20 small-pane windows
and recessed door to right. West gable slate-clad. Interior not seen. No significance known to present name; as The
Angel first recorded in 1787 when a court leet was held here. (VCR, Vol III, 1974).
