Wall with gateway. C19. Red brick, Flemish bond, with Ham stone dressings. Wall about 3.5 metres high, with Ham stone
coping; gateway has piers with bands of Ham stone and small panels of lias stone in brickwork, flanking an elliptical
archway with lias stone plinth, impost blocks and keystone: single wide boarded gate with wicket. An important element
in the street scene, adjacent to the Hanging Chapel (qv). (Gateway to Portcullis End, itself not of special
interest.
