The Apple Room. about 20 m
south-west of Compton Castle
Stone building. C17 origins. Ham stone roughly cut and squared, ashlar dressings; stone slate roof between moulded
coped gables. Single-storey, 3 bays. Central plain doorway flanked by 2 ovolo mould 2-light mullioned windows with flat
arched heads under hood moulds. Interior not seen. Part of the large landscaped estate of Compton Castle (qv) and an
important element in the setting of this building and the summerhouse (qv) to which it is linked by a tall cranked wall
with moulded coping.
