11/163 The Old Sheep Dip, 50 metres East
South East of Hymerford House

Sheep dip, on the mill stream. Probably of C19. Local stone rubble walls, with dressed stones with grooves to
accommodate water barriers. Layout consists of bypass to main stream, small bridge onto the island so formed with
platform for sheep handlers, first dipping taak to accommodate one large sheep, then secondary tank with exit ramp,
stone paved. Uncovered by present owners (June 1983) several years ago, an interesting survival and possibly a very
early example.
