Description

WEST COKER CP EAST STREET (South side)
5T5213
10/270 Nos.44 and 46
-
GV II

Pair of cottages. Late C18. Local stone rubble, ashlar copings and East finial; double Roman clay tiles; brick end and
intermediate chimney stacks. No.44 one-storey, No. 46 2-storeys, under same roof. 3-light timber casement windows of
varying sizes, with exposed timber lintels: No.44 has plain door on left with two stall-pane casement windows; No. 46
has door to right with casement over, and further casements, one up and one down, to left, of which the lower has small
panes. East gable more sophisticated, with ashlar straight buttress and ball finial to coping: this suggests
conversion of an earlier building. Listed as a rare survival; unspoilt humble dwellings.
