Description

SOUTH PETHERTON CP PALMER STREET (North side)
ST4317
6/140 South and East boundary walling
and gates, Coke Memorial
Methodist Church

GV II

Boundary walling and gates. 1881. Ham stone cut and squared, ashlar dressings; cast-iron gates. Along Palmer Street the
walling is between 600mm and 300mm high, with stepped coping stones, and a recess for a seat towards the south-east
corner, with quarter-circle curve on that corner; at each end of this wall square ashlar piers with moulded plinths and
caps, and pairs of cast-iron gates with Gothic style decoration: wall continues along North Street, slightly higher, in
rubble stone with coping. The whole adds to the setting of the Coke Memorial Church (q.v.), and to the
streetscene generally on this important corner site.
