ST03NE MONKSILVER CP FRONT STREET (East side)

5/23 Court Hall

-

GV II

Cottage. C16, altered late C20. Roughcast over rubble, slate roof coped verges, brick stack gable ends. Plan: 3 cell,
with or without cross passage. 2 storeys, 3 bays, first floor small C20 2-light casements except for steeply chamfered
2-light wooden casement left, groundfloor C20 two 4-light casements left and one 3-light right of 4-centred arch stone
chamfered door case, C20 plank door. Interior: partially viewed: room to right of entrance appears to contain 4 panel
compartment ceiling, chamfered beams with step and surmount stops. Evidence of stair beside fireplace from small
moulded opening on left return gable end. The unusual occurence of a stone 4-centred arch doorcase in a vernacular
cottage can also be found at Wayside (qv), which has a similar steeply chamfered 2-light casement first floor left.
