Mid/late C19. 2 storeys. Red brick with ashlar dressings. Modillion cornice
and parapet. Ashlar pilasters flank front. 2 windows with segmental heads in
rectangular moulded surrounds. Keystones and triangular spandrels. Sills with
brackets under. Sashes, no glazing bars. Contemporary shopfront with doorway
to left, moulded cornice. 3 richly moulded volutes on pilasters. Shop-windows
divided by slender colonettes. 4-panel door to left. Grade II for group value.
All the listed buildings from Crown Hotel to No 11 (North side) and Nos 2 to 10,
with No 12 (South side), and the Market Cross and Nos 6 to 9 (consec) Market Place
form an extremely important group.
