1846. By Benjamin Ferrey. Perpendicular. Ashlar. In 3 stages, with octagonal
base supporting spirelet with openwork tracery, tabernacles and finials. Wrought-iron
weathervane at apex.
The Market Cross, Nos 1 and 2, Nos 6 to 9 (consec) Market Place, Nos 2 to 10, with No 1
High Street (South side), Crown Hotel to No 11 High Street (North side), all form
an extremely important group.
