Rebuilt early 1750s, front altered early C19 and interior remodelled 1874. 3 storeys.
Painted ashlar. 3 bay front with lesser set-back bay to left. Ground floor has
central arched entrance and two 3-light C19 sashes in architrave surrounds. 1st
floor has iron verandah balcony (probably C20) with French windows. Band over. On
2nd floor 3 C19 sashes in architrave surrounds. Cornice, parapet. 2 hipped slate
roofs with central valley; brick side chimneys, right-hand one with stone cornice.
One segmental headed dormer to each roof. The hotel is a prominent feature of the
Market Place and has played an important part in Frome's history. 3 storey circa
1800 lower extension set back to right, band over 1st floor, cornice and parapet;
3-light window in arched surround on 2nd floor, later oriel flat bow on 1st floor,
mid C19 shop front on ground floor with moulded cornice and pilaster strips.
