Pair of gate piers. Mid C18. Pair of tall ashlar gate piers 12 metres apart flanking a roadway. Fielded and panelled
on 2 sides, plain on the remaining sides; moulded caps; known locally as the Hardington Piers, they form the boundary
of the former estate of the Bampfylde family. (R. D. Reid, Some Buildings Of Mendip, 1979).
