Lodge. Early C19. Ashlar, low pitched slate roof, wide eaves, oblong ashlar stack and a tall polygonal stack with
cap. Single storey, 3 bays; salient feature central single storey canted bay with angle pilasters and pilasters to
walls, each with a moulded patera at its head; central door opening with a recessed panel to each side and a segmental
headed recess over the door, half glazed door. Sash windows in similar surrounds to each side. Former manor house of
the Champneys family once stood nearby accounting for the position of the lodge; manor house demolished 1856 when the
present house was built at Orchardlea (qv).
