Manor house. Late C16 truncated centre block with ridge at right angles to frontage, mid C17 wing to each side.
Coursed and squared rubble, stone tiled roof; facade under 5 gables, that to centre timber framed with plaster
infilling and jettied, corresponding first floor in a similar style, moulded sill beam, 2 ornamental soffit brackets;
smaller dormer gables to each side with copings, 4 restored brick stacks. Two storeys and attics, 6 bays,
predominantly 2, and 4-light ogee-moulded stone-mullioned windows, those to right 2 bays with dripmoulds and
relieving arches; window openings to right 2 gables blank, none to left 2 gables; 3, 4 and 5-light ovolo moulded wooden
mullioned windows to attic, first, and ground floors of centre bay respectively, moulded sills on wooden brackets
except on ground floor. Door opening between third and fourth bays in a moulded 4-centred stone surround, stopped
label over, studded plank door, further door opening between first and second bays, plank door. Interior with many
exposed ceiling beams, some plaster friezes to right ground floor room; this room also has a fireplace in a moulded
4-centred stone surround, moulded cornice shelf, ornamental plaster overmantel with the arms of the Horner family. The
building was used as almshouses in the C18 and C19, at which time an addition was made to the left side. (VAG report,
