Milestone. Early C19 for Ilchester Turnpike Trust. Low dressed stone pier,
with a flat top, roughly triangular on plan; cast-iron plaque inset to west
side, raised lettering:- "9 SHEPTON MALLET ILCHESTER 6". Further remains of incised lettering to rear:- "CANNARDS GRAVE", indicates the re-use of the
pier. Ilchester Turnpike Trust established 1753
