10/79 Nos. 63-69
Row of 4 workers cottages. Central 2-light stone mullioned window inscribed:- "Strode Cottages 1886"; by G. J. Skipper
for for William S. Clark. Irregularly coursed squared rubble, double Roman tile roofs, 4 brick ridge stacks. Tudor
style; irregular plan, symmetrical about its centre; 2 stages, 1:1:1:1 bays, those to each side in shallow projecting
wings with front-facing gables, 4-light chamfered stone- mullioned windows; centre 2 bays with windows to first floor
in gabled dormers, 2-light casements of 12 panes, 2 similar casements to ground floor with cambered heads, that to
right replaced with a non- conforming C20 metal casement. Four door openings, plank doors, except No. 63 with a
6-panelled door; Nos 65 and 67 with double Roman tiled hoods, Nos 63 and 69 with doors set back to each side of the
projecting wings, swept eaves forming a hood to each. (McGarvie M, Guide to Historic Street, Unpublished).
