Terrace of workers housing. Central stone plaque:- "18 Wilfrid Terrace 85", by G. J. Skipper for William S. Clark.
Irregularly coursed and squared rubble, double-Roman tile roof, brick ridge stacks in groups of 4 with oversailing
courses. Tudor style; irregular frontage, symmetrical about centre. Two storeys, 2:4:1:1:1:4:2 bays, first, third,
fifth and seventh bay sets in projecting gabled wings, these with 3 and 4-light stone-mullioned windows, each light
with a metal casement, some single-light windows in dressed stone surrounds, again with casements; narrow opening in a
dressed stone surround to each gable face, some glazed, some with ventilating louvres. Remainder of bay sets with
3-light casements, those to ground floor with cambered heads, except a 4-light stone-mullioned window to centre of
terrace on first floor, again each light with a metal casement. Below a broad segmental- headed carriageway in a
chamfered and dressed stone surround. Twelve door openings, plank doors, some with glazed panels; those to Nos 1, 11,
13 and 23 in semi-circular headed dressed stone surrounds. Door openings to Nos 3, 5, 7, 9, 15, 17, 19 and 21 in
projecting pent-roofed rubble porches, double Roman tile roofs. Erected during a major expansion of the shoe industry
in Street; the great attention to detail and the spacious planning give this part of the town the atmosphere of a
garden suburb. Group value with Lawson Terrace (qv). (McGarvie M., Guide to Historic Street, unpublished).
