Outbuilding, former stable, granary, barn, cider house and
barrel store. C17, remodelled late C19. Coursed limestone
rubble; gabled Welsh slate roof. Rectangular plan with central
5-bay barn having barrel store to front, harness room, stables
and granary to right and cider house and cartshed to left. One
storey, with lofts to stables and cartshed. From left, segmental
lintel over late C19 plank doors to cartshed, segmental stone
arch over similar doors to cider house, overlight above similar
door set in heavy pegged frame and segmental stone arch over
2-light casement to blocked threshing-floor entry, segmental
stone arches over 2 late C19 plank doors flanked by 2 two-light
casements, followed by late C19 plank double doors to threshing
floor and segmental stone arches over two similar casements;
further stable set back to right has segmental stone arches over
late C19 plank door and flanking 2-light casements; steps to
plank loft door to right gable end. Rear elevation has 2
threshing-floor doorways with C19 strap hinges to plank doors and
timber lintels over C19 plank loft and ground-floor doors with
strap hinges. Interior: cider-barrel store has thatch ceiling;
cider house has late C19 iron screw press, small early C20 cider
mill and two C17 A-frame trusses with pegged collars; late C19
trusses elsewhere, except C17 part timber-framed front wall of
barn with braced wall post; C17/18 plank loft door with strap
hinges set in heavy pegged frame from barn to stable. Stables
have chamfered beams and ramped stalls. A good example of a
combination type of farmbuilding.
