Section of mid-Victorian Gothic terrace of exceptional quality, set back from the
road. More ornate than the neighbouring terrace to east. 2 storeys plus attics
and basements. Ashlar with multi-coloured insets. The end bays under gables come
forward slightly with square pyramidal turrets to outer ends. Steep patterned
slate roofs with 4 gabled dormers in centre and ridge cresting. Openwork balustrade
with pierced quatrefoils supported by eaves cornice on trefoiled brackets. Centre
of front is divided by pilaster buttresses with shafts and foliated capitals. Stringcourse
Windows are lancets with trefoiled heads grouped in ones, twos and threes, those
of 3 lights having openwork stone balconettes on brackets. Attics to end gables
have pared lights under quatrefoils. Large canted bays with stone transoms and
mullions to ground floor (end bay to right altered). 3 doorways in centre of front
under gabled stone canopies supported by marble shafts with crocket capitals.
Large wooden doors up steps, strapwork hinges. Doorways to left and right have
hoodmoulds and paterae in voussoirs. This terrace forms a very important part
of the whole ensemble with the Corner House Hotel and St John's Church.

All the listed buildings in Park Street (except St Paul's House form a group together
with Nos 2 to 18 (even) Wellington Road.
