Vast Gothic building on its own grounds. Main building 1867-70 by Joseph James
of London. Chapel of 1867-70 by Sir Frank Wills. Long 3 storey range facing south
with tall tower over entrance in centre. Single storey gabled ranges come forward
to left and right. Rubble walls with ashlar dressings. Slate roofs with cresting.
The square central tower has a pyramidal roof with weathervane. Gablets to 2nd
storey windows rise into roof. Mostly 2 light windows with plain mullions and transoms.
Canted bay through 2 storeys of tower over entrance. These lights have traceried
heads. Pointed entrance set forward from the front with moulded archway and double
wooden doors. Ground floor to right has a bow window with crenellated parapet.
Gabled ranges at ends of front have buttresses with setoffs and large traceried
windows.

Fairwater and Taunton School form a group.
