II G.V. (westernmost of pair)

Water tower. c1930. Concrete. Central circular 4 storey tower surrounded by concentric pillars
braced to the central tower and to each other and supporting the water tank which is of
larger diameter than the tower. The central tower has plinth, double board door on north
side, and on north-east, south-east,south-west and north-west sides 5 tiers of rectangular
windows, mostly iron-framed with fixed 6-pane lights. The concentric pillars are square
on plan with plinths and cornices, the braces triangular ended, the uppermost panels between
the pillars are round-arched and from the spandrels extend brackets supporting cornice at
base of tank. Tank has recessed rectangular panels, plain cornice and balustrade.
