South-east of The Old Rectory

Boundary wall and gates to The Old Rectory (qv). Early C19, restored mid C20. Red sandstone random rubble topped with 8
courses of brick in irregular bonding, about 2.5 metres high in all. Walls curved back at South end larking main
entrance, no gatepiers as such but terminations of wall distinguished by C20 sandstone pine cones. Cast iron double
gates, ramped down in the riddle, spearhead design with standards as terminals, central frieze of interlocking circles.
Pointed arch doorway at North end of wall with mid C19 studded ledge and plank door. Primarily listed for group
value.
