gates, about 10 metres North-east
of Spring Grove House

GV II

Bridge over stream, gatepiers, railings and gates. Bridge: late C18, renewed C20; single arch span, red brick renewed
with red sandstone random rubble masonry and topped with courses of brickwork and stone saddleback coping. Gatepiers at
Southern end of bridge probably early C19, painted ashlar, square with recessed panels, topped with C20 shallow
baluster urns. No gates. Railings on bridge swepted down at Northern end past the gatepiers - all of wrought iron,
probably late C18. Spearhead design with volutes, standards, and 4-sided gatepiers of quartered circles with rosette
centre and alternating scroll panels, topped with volutes about 2 metres high. Double gate, swepted down in centre,
spearhead design with frieze of linked circles. A fine example of wrought iron work.
