Shown on OS map as The Rookery. House. C16, altered early and late C17, and mid C19. Roughcast over rubble, quoin
strips, raking buttresses to end bays, plain clay tile roof, brick stack gable ends. Plan: 2 cell with entry now though
coeval room at rear. 2 storeys, 3 bays; C19 fenestration, central inserted doorway, not used. Interior: left heavily
moulded plasterwork ceiling with bay leaf centre piece containing the sacrifice of Isaac, plasterwork over mantel with
initials RMB, thought to stand for Richard and Mary Bobbett, dated 1679 with coat of arms identified as that of the
Merchant Adventurer's Company. The bedroom above contains plasterwork cornice, overfiantle of 3 arcades with flower
vases and 4-panel compartment ceiling decorated with cartouches and fleur-de-lys. Ground floor right moulded 4 panel
compartment chamfered lintel to gable end fireplace, fire back also depicting the sacrifice of Isaac, turned newel dog
leg stair and raised and fielded panelling to first floor, probably reset. There is 2-light ovolo moulded stair window
to right gable end. A remarkable collection of decorative features behind a modest facade. (VAG Report, unpublished
