5/161 Park Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Late Cl5/early C16 with later alterations. Rendered
limestone rubble; gabled pantile roof; brick axial and end
stacks. 3-unit plan with cross passage adjoining stack of central
hall. One storey and attic; 4-window range. Shallow pointed arch
over C19 six-panelled door with Gothic fanlight. C20 2-light
over C19 six-panelled door with Gothic fanlight. C20 2-light
casements with glazing bars and C19 8/8-pane sash; 3 and 4-light
casements in gabled dormers. Mid C19 rear wing. Rear wall raised
by a few courses to take lower-pitched roof. Interior: late
by a few courses to take lower-pitched roof. Interior: late
C15/early C16. jointed cruck trusses with smoke blackening, and
windbracing to rear purlins. Chamfered beams throughout, that to
centre more deeply chamfered. Timber-framed partition divides
hall from inner parlour. C18 bracketed mantleshelf and pointed-
arched surround to large open hall fireplace with bread oven.
Early/mid C18 closed-string staircase with column-on-vase
balusters and ramped handrail. C18 and C19 panelled doors, and
Cl7 doorframe to first floor.
